EDUCATION PROGRAM - PEERY MATRICULATION HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOL
Since the dedication of the Peery Matriculation School in 2007, we have grown by leaps and bounds. We have been providing free education for the children of leprosy-affected people. We have the entire necessary infrastructure required for a successful education program. We have a beautiful library, arts-and-craft workroom, well-equipped computer and science labs, a music room, and a vocational training center. We have an effective mentoring program to prepare students for success in the business world. The government recognizes our school, and we were honored to receive Higher Secondary status in 2015, allowing us to continue to prepare the students for college. We are currently educating 374 children on the Thottanaval campus from UKG to 12th Standard - each one a bright hope for the future!
The PEERY Matriculation School is a residential school with comfortable hostels for boys and girls. All basic needs, such as food, shelter, clothing, and counseling, are provided to help the children focus on completing their education successfully. Though most of the students come from backgrounds of illiteracy, once they are given a chance to get a top-notch education, they find they can both dream and obtain the skills necessary to achieve their dreams. Their remarkable test scores and achievements in sports, arts, and dance have shown that they can excel in whatever they put their minds to.
LIBRARY
The beautiful campus library provides rich resources for student learning. Our dedicated staff keeps hundreds of books for all age levels organized and in good condition.

SCIENCE LAB
The science lab is a well-equipped facility supporting science instruction during school and in the after-school science club. Both physics and chemistry labs have a variety of materials, including ample water and gas supplies, heat–resistant countertops, and secure storage for all stores.
PLAY TIME
Students enjoy playtime after school and on weekends. Our clean and open campus has playground facilities and equipment for cricket, track and field, basketball, football, volleyball, Kabaddi, and badminton.

AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS
The PEERY Matriculation Higher Secondary School for Rising Stars offers academic and creative clubs. Music classes are provided for students interested in keyboard, violin, and drums. We are also conducting and organizing many other clubs to enrich and enhance the welfare of our students. These additional clubs are in the areas of science, mathematics, sports, English and Tamil literature, culture, culinary arts, traditional arts and crafts, and environmental care. Volunteers to Rising Star Outreach also continue to support students and help them to enhance their fluency and literacy in English.
COMPUTER LAB
The campus computer lab features high-quality equipment to enrich student learning, giving students additional practice in English, Mathematics, and other subjects, as well as building computer science skills. Students visit the lab on a regular basis.
SCHOOL TRIPS
Fun, educational-related trips are organized for children throughout this program. Besides learning, excursions give students cherished memories and an opportunity to work in group dynamics. We organize several educational trips, excursions, and picnics for the students of all classes under the supervision of trained outdoor instructors and school teachers.
SPORTS AND GAMES
Our students are encouraged to participate in Zonal, District, Divisional, and State level sports and games activities. Sports education has inculcated the valuable qualities of strength, leadership, confidence, stamina, and teamwork among our children. They continue to succeed and show great potential through their efforts in these areas! One of our students, Mr. Sathrapathi, achieved 1st place in the 3000-meter race; in the 1500-meter race, he was selected for state-level athletics and stood in 8th place. Students Ms. Abinaya and Ms. Revathy achieved 2nd place, and Mr. Praveen earned 3rd place in the Carom competition held at Tambaram. We are so proud of our students and their dedication! Beyond some of the more traditional sports, we also teach Silambam and Kung-Fu to help students to improve their self-defense. We love our students to be well-rounded.

SPORTS AND GAMES
We have recently implemented a Life Learning Program for the children. Children are selected purely based on their interest in this program. We began this program to brighten their prospects in learning a vocation and preparing them for success in school and beyond. The children learn Arts and Craft work, Painting, Tailoring, and Embroidery. Sessions are conducted from Monday to Friday from 4:45pm to 5:45pm
PEERY SCHOOL ACHIEVEMENTS
The Peery Matriculation School has repeatedly been honored for its success. Our students have achieved 100% pass-rate results in the 10th standard public exams every year. In 2014, based on the National Exam scores, the Peery School was listed as the top school in the Kancheepuram District of more than 400 schools. In 2020 it was named the #1 School in India for Hands-on Learning. Our principal was named one of forty “2019 Principals of the Year” that same year. Because of these several honors, the school is now recognized as an elite school in India.
Many of our students have successfully completed their primary & secondary school education and are now pursuing a college education. We have students pursuing (or graduated from) the fields of medicine, engineering, pharmacy, psychology, nursing, and teaching, to name a few. These are all accolades and opportunities that would otherwise be almost unheard of in children from their circumstances. We are so proud of our Rising Stars.
